Positions Available1DescriptionThe Ministry of Education Science Technology and Innovation (MESTI)- Department of Curriculum and Textbooks in Kosovo has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as an Environmental Education Resource Development Specialist. Sharr Mountain National Park is the first national park declared by the Assembly of Kosovo in 1986. Natural attractions and convenient geographical position enable the development of three basic modes of tourism (stationary tourism, weekend-picnic and transit) throughout the year. The Directorate of the park has a small but motivated staff that is interested in developing its capacities and sustainable efforts to promote and protect the cultural and touristic offer of the national park. Environmental education holds a prominent position within Kosovo curriculum documents, reflecting its integration as a cross-curricular aspect under the principles of Education for Sustainable Development. Despite its inclusion in the curriculum, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) recognizes the existing gap between curriculum content and its practical implementation in schools. MESTI aims to strengthen environmental education's practical application and foster a generation of environmentally conscious individuals equipped to address global sustainability challenges. The PCRV will develop a detailed manual or repository of resources for pre-university environmental education and organize materials that cover a range of subjects relevant to environmental education, ensuring alignment with national curriculum standards. The PCRV will also develop orientation sessions to guide teachers on how to effectively use resources in the classroom and how to develop other resources on their own. The primary goal of this position is to contribute to the enhancement of pre-university environmental education by creating a comprehensive manual or repository of resources for teachers.Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Kosovo together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.Request TypePCR000 PCR VolunteerPostKosovoPartner Organization NameMinistry of Education Science Technology and Innovation (MESTI)- Department of Curriculum and TextbooksRequired Skillso Bachelor's degree in Education, Environmental Science, or a related field.
